The “Grande Dame” tour of Indochina is a comprehensive 14 day journey through Cambodia, Laos & Vietnam allowing you to travel in comfort and style. Highlights of each country include the temples of Angkor, the delightful town of Luang Prabang, the emerald waters of Halong Bay, the Imperial city of Hue, Hoi An’s ancient buildings and the capital cities of each country.

 

The tour also includes areas more off the beaten track including the charming town in eastern Cambodia, the 4000 Islands of the Mekong and stay in the wilds of northern Laos. Day 00 : Departure from UK

Departure from UK to begin your holiday experience

Day 01 : Arrive at Luang Prabang

Welcome to Luang Prabang! You will be transferred to the hotel for check in. Lunch on own account.

 

The day will start with a visit to Vat Vixoune which is influenced by Thai-Lu architecture and followed by That Makmo, the watermelon shaped stupa. Then you will proceed to Vat Xieng Thong, the most beautiful temple of Luang Prabang dating back from 16th century. Climb up Phousy Hill for a panoramic view of the city and the Mekong River.

Day 02 : Luang Prabang-Watch Tagbat-Pak Ou Caves

Watch Tagbat, the monks’ rounds, early in the morning. It is a ritual that is truly part of Lao people’s life and offers a memorable experience and great snapshots.

 

Your guide will explain how to follow the strict customs and rules involved and visit fresh local market. Return to your hotel for breakfast

 

The day starts with a visit to the National Museum (Tuesday closed) the former RoyalKing’s Palace then proceed to embark at the local pier of Luang Prabang on a traditional boat and cruise upstream on the Mekong River to visit the sacred Buddha caves. On the way, stop at Thin Hong a picturesque village to get a glimpse of daily life. Visit Tham Ting and Tham Phoum caves in which you find hundreds of Buddha statues

 

Lunch will be at a local restaurant near by the caves and return to Luang Prabang by boat. On the way back stop at Ban Xang Khong, handmade paper village.  Visit Ok Pok Tok (nice weaving work shop).  You will be taken to the old city for a walk and  shop at a Hmong market

Day 03 : Luang Prabang – Kuangsi Waterfall - Hanoi

Breakfast will be at your hotel

 

You will start the excursion by car to Kuangsi waterfall 32 kms to the west of Luang Prabang. On the way, a short walk through the forest to the waterfall. After enjoying the scenery, take a swim in one of the nearby clear pools. Below the tiered limestone pools lies the Khmu village Ban Thapene. Khmu men are especially good basket weavers and can sometimes be watched crafting.

 

Picnic lunch nearby the waterfall, then you will travel back to Luang Prabang and transfer to the airport for departure flight to Hanoi. Meet on arrival at Hanoi/Noi Bai International airport; our guide will pick you up at the airport and then you will be transferred to the hotel for check in.

Day 04 : Hanoi - Full Day City Tour

After breakfast at the hotel, your day will start with a visit to Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum (closed on Monday, Friday and the whole October-November for maintenance), One Pillar Pagoda, Fine Art Museum and Historical Museum.

 

After lunch at a local restaurant, you will be taken for a Panoramic Cycle tour in the afternoon followed by a visit of Ngoc Son Temple and Hoan Kiem Lake.

 

Drop by Thang Long theatre to enjoy famous Water Puppet Show, the unique Vietnamese traditional art. This art originates from rural festivals in Vietnam. The artists-men and women-stand waist-deep in the water to manipulate the puppets, making them move about, talk, laugh and even dance on the water surface.

Day 05 : Hanoi – Halong

After breakfast at the hotel, you will begin your journey with a drive to visit the Temple of Literature and then proceed to Halong for 2 days/1 night cruise. In Halong, board the junk, check-in registration (Check-in time between 12.30 and 13.00). Discover Halong Bay, listed as a World Heritage Area of outstanding natural beauty. “Dragon descending to the sea“ as it is known in Vietnamese, picturesque Halong Bay has more than 3,000 limestone islets rising from the clear emerald water, many of them containing beautiful grottoes. Seafood lunch on board. A fantastic cruise in Ha Long bay will take you to visit some of the islands and caves.  You will also have the opportunity to swim at Titov beach.

 

Enjoy dinner and overnight on board.

Day 06 : Halong – Hanoi – Danang – Hoi An

Enjoy breakfast on board and you will continue to cruise the bay. Disembark and have lunch on the way

Drive back to Hanoi and transfer to the airport for your flight to Danang. Arrive in Danang; meet our guide and transfer to Hoi An for overnight.

Lunch on day 6: will be served in a local restaurant in Halong Bay after check-out from the boat. There is neither time nor an adequate restaurant facility on the way to Hanoi Airport.

Day 07 : Hoi An

After breakfast at the hotel, you will travel to discover the historic town, which used to be a prosperous seaport city during the 16th to 18th centuries. Its sizeable community of foreign merchants resulted in a unique architectural style with Vietnamese, Chinese and Japanese influences. And them you will visit the Phuc Kien hall, Japanese covered bridge, Tan Ky old house and a silk workshop.

 

In the afternoon, you will have lunch at hotel and time at leisure will be at your hand.

Day 08 : Hoi An - Danang - Hue

Breakfast will be served at the hotel and your day will start with a drive to Danang with a visit to a carving village at Marble Mountain; Cham Museum

 

After lunch at a local restaurant, you will proceed to Hue via Hai Van pass: and visit Imperial Citadel and Dong Ba market

 

Dinner will be on your own arrangement and overnight stay accommodation at hotel in Hue

Day 09 : Hue – Ho Chi Minh

Have a hearty breakfast at the hotel. The day will start with a boat trip on the perfume River; visit Thien Mu pagoda then Tu Duc Tomb. In the afternoon, eat your lunch at a local restaurant and then you will continue your journey to visit Khai Dinh Tomb and the incense making village and then transfer to the airport for your flight to Ho Chi Minh City.

 

On arrival in Ho Chi Minh City, our guide will meet you and then transfer you to your hotel for check in. Dinner will be on your own arrangement

Day 10 : Ho Chi Minh – Cu Chi Tunnel – Ho Chi Minh

You will have breakfast at the hotel. Your morning will start with a drive to visit the Cu Chi Tunnels, an amazing complex of the underground tunnels used during the Vietnam War and then drive back to Ho Chi Minh City. Afternoon Lunch will be at a local restaurant, then you will visit War Remnants Museum, former Presidential Palace and quick photo stops at Notre Dame Church, and Central Post Office.

 

Dinner will be on own arrangement and overnight stay and accommodation at hotel in Ho Chi Minh

Day 11 : Ho Chi Minh – Siem Reap

The day will start with breakfast at the hotel and then you will be picked up at the hotel and be transferred to the airport for your departure flight. After arrival at Siem Reap airport, you will be transferred to your hotel for check in and lunch will be at a local restaurant then enhance you visit of Angkor Wat Temple until sunset. a Buddhist temple, was first built by Khmer King Suryavarman II in the early 12th century in Yasodharapura, the capital of the Khmer Empire.

 

Restriction: The visitor should wear blouse covering arms, shoulders & long skirts covering legs (no short miniskirt or short trousers).

Day 12 : Siem Reap

You will have breakfast at the hotel and the day will start with a visit to Banteay Srey or Banteay Srei and Bantey Samre temples.

 

Banteay Srey temple is a beautiful 10th-century Hindu temple complex about 23 miles north of Angkor Wat dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva.

 

Banteay Samré, named after the Samré, an ancient people of Indochina. It is a temple at Angkor, located east of the East Baray in Cambodia. Built under Suryavarman II and Yasovarman II in the early 12th century, it is a flat temple displaying distinctively Angkor Wat style architecture and artistry.

After lunch at a local restaurant, a short Tuk-Tuk ride to the walled city South Gate of Angkor Thom means “ Great City” a late 12th – early 13th centuries quadrangle of defensive walls totaling 12 kilometers that once protected the Khmer capital. Then you will visit the Bayon temple with stone faces, and richly decorated Khmer temple at Angkor, built in the late 12th or early 13th century as the official state temple of the Mahayana Buddhist King Jayavarman VII. The day trip will continue with visit of Baksei Chamkrong, which once used to hold a golden image of Hindu Lord Shiva. then you will visit the Royal Terraces comprising of the Elephant terrace to the South and the Terrace of the Leper King also called as “Leper King” Terrace to the North, a wall has many unique carvings.

Day 13 : Siem Reap – Phnom Penh

The day will start with breakfast at the hotel and a visit to explore Ta Prohm, a beautiful jungle temple which conjures up a romantic aura with complementary pair with the temple monastery of Preah Khan temple ” The Royal Sacred Sword”, dedicated in 1191 A.D and travel to Neak Pean temples. or Neak Poan “The entwined serpents”, is an artificial island with a Buddhist temple built in 12th century originally known as Rajyasri, “kingdom’s brightness” or “rule’s bless”. Here pilgrims visit Neak Pen to wash away their sins in the cleansing waters of the mythical lake in the Himalayas as local believes.

 

After lunch at the hotel, you will visit Artisans D’Angkor. It’s the rebirth of Khmer arts, Shops and Workshops where you will have the opportunity to admire the knowledge and techniques of our artisans in stone and wood carving, lacquering, silver plating, silk painting and explore local market at ease,

 

You will then be transferred to Siem Reap airport for your flight to Phnom Penh. On arrival at Phnom Penh, transfer to the hotel for check-in.

Day 14 : Phnom Penh – Departure for UK.

After breakfast at the hotel, the last day of the tour will start with a visit to Phnom Penh City once referred to as ‘the Pearl of South East Asia’. Explore the city by visiting the National Museum, Cambodia‘s largest museum of cultural history ,  Stunning Silver Pagoda, formerly, it was known as Wat Ubosoth Ratanaram is located on the south side of the Royal Palace. The majestic Royal Palace of Phnom Penh  is a must visit for any tourist in the city. The entire complex is walled are a great example of the beautiful and detailed architecture Khmer and Khmer and formally called Preah Barom Reachea Vaeng Chaktomuk. Your exploration will not be complete without visiting Wat Phnom “Mountain Pagoda” is the only hill in town in the heartbeat of Phnom Penh city with Buddhist Temple built in 1373, is the tallest religious structure stands 27 metres (88.5 ft.) above the ground.

Lunch will be at a local restaurant and then you will be transferred to Phnom Penh International airport for departure flight for UK.
