Photographic Workshops

Designed by photographers for photographers, our workshops are aimed at all levels of experience from beginner to expert.   Whether you are new to photography and want to understand more about your camera and how to use it or an experienced hand who wants to be taken to hand picked locations off the beaten track the choice is yours.  With every course the focus is always on helping you to take a better pictures.

The emphasis is very much on learning and taking pictures in the field where direct supervision is given by our principal photographer, Ian Preece.  Our focus is providing you, the photographer, with the service, support and flexibility you need to capture the images you want to.  We keep our groups small enough to allow each student to focus on their own specific areas of interest.

Each workshop covers a range of subjects and we take a practical step by step approach to help you get the best out of your camera, not just on your trip but on your next photographic adventure.

  • Introduction to the course: what are your aims and objectives
  • Camera appreciation: covering the basics, how it works and how to use it, how do different lenses work, what are they used for
  • Equipment: what other equipment is useful, tripods, filters, remote controls, etc.
  • Light and composition: approaches and techniques for composing and capturing images
  • Photographic techniques: we cover a range of photographic techniques including low-light, variable and long exposure, filters, black and white and night time photography
  • Techniques – Processing: simple Photoshop workflows to make the most of your images and get them ready to print

Before your start we will find out more about what you want to get from the course.

Testimonials

Customer Speaks about their experiences at the “Signature Photography Tour”:

I have attended a number of photography courses over the years, from class room style to in the field, and while I have gained knowledge with these along the way nothing compared to what I got out of my sessions with Ian. His thorough explanations and pragmatic approach suddenly made things 'click'. I now have a workflow process that makes a difference to my images and my over all enjoyment of photography. Not only did the time in the field with Ian help immensely, he also followed up with detailed advise on the correct gear for me should I wish to upgrade and further develop my photography. I can highly recommend spending some time with Ian!

Toni, Auckland

He is a truly excellent landscape and wildlife photographer, who will teach you the finer points of photography, while making it easy to learn.
