The “Tiger and the Taj Mahal” tour captures the delights of the monuments of Delhi, explore the luscious green forests and wildlife experience at the Bandhavgarh National Park, and the magnificent Taj Mahal. The journey starts from Delhi where you will experience a mixture of ancient and modern Indian architecture.

 

You may have already seen the Taj Mahal in countless images and photo-graphs, but nothing could ever prepare you for your first sight of this splendid memorial – it will simply take your breath away. The bittersweet story of its history only adds to the wonder, a true spectacle and a memorable experience. The Taj Mahal is one of the highlights of the tour.

Day 00 : Departure from UK

Departure from UK to begin your holiday experience

Day 01 : Arrive Delhi

Welcome to Delhi! You will meet our representative at the airport after clearing customs. Later transfer to your hotel for check-in. Overnight at the Hotel. Your first day will be a bit relaxed. You can either spend the day at the hotel or explore the area surrounding your
hotel.

Day 02 : Take Overnight train to Umaria

You will take an overnight train to Umaria which is about 980 Kms from Delhi. Umaria is one of the least populated districts in Madhya Pradesh. Located at an elevation of 540 m, it is surrounded by beautiful waterfall like Johilla Waterfall and thick forest cover. Overnight Stay at a hotel.

Day 03 : Umaria - Bandhavgarh

Early morning arrival at Umaria station. On arrival, you will drive from Umaria station to the Bandhavgarh National park.

 

In 1968, Bandhavgarh park was declared as a National Park sprawling across 105 Sq Km of forest cover. The Park is rich in diversity with plenty of rare and exotic species of Animals and birds. The park houses Tigers, Leopards, Cheetahs, Gaurs, among others. To see these animals in their natural habitat is an astonishing experience. In the lush green forest, you will find some rare birds including Black-winged stilt, Great cormorant, Asian pied Starling, Large Cuckoo shrike, and more.

 

Overnight stay at a resort within the National Park.

Day 04 : Bandhavgarh

You will proceed with your safari in the National Park. Your chances of spotting a tiger are really high. While the National Park is well known for its density of tigers, there are also 250 different species of birds habituated in the dense forest. You’ll be able to spot Plum-headed parakeet, Purple sunbird, Rufous treepie, Malabar pied hornbill, to name a few. The biodiversity that this National Park has to offer is beyond imagination.

Day 05 : Bandhavgarh - Umaria overnight train to Agra

You will catch an overnight train to Agra from Umaria. Agra is one of the major attractions for visitors worldwide.

Day 06 : Arrive Agra

Arrival in Agra and transfer to your hotel.

 

Later in the day, you will visit Agra Fort. This rusty and majestic red-sandstone fort, which stands on the banks of the river Yamuna was built by Emperor Akbar in 1566. At the Diwan-i-Khas (hall of private audience), where the marble pavilions with floral inlays lend an ethereal ambience, the Emperor sat on his gem-studded Peacock Throne and met foreign ambassadors and rulers of friendly kingdoms.

 

In the afternoon, visit the Taj Mahal, one of the world’s most famous monuments, and surely the most extravagant expression of love ever created. Twenty thousand men laboured for over 17 years to build this memorial to Shah Jahan’s beloved wife. It’s a wealth of white marble and semi-precious stone and undoubtedly the highlight of your tour.

Day 07 : Agra - Delhi

Early breakfast, and proceed to Delhi.

 

Later a short combined tour of New & Old Delhi covering the Raj Ghat – the memorial site where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated, Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in India and a view of the Red Fort. A visit to the Qutub Minar, drive along the ceremonial avenue – Rajpath, past the imposing India Gate, Parliament House, the President’s Residence and would end with a drive through the Diplomatic Enclave. Overnight stay in Delhi.

Day 08 : Departure from Delhi

This day our tour will conclude at Delhi. On this day, you will be transferred to the Delhi airport for your onward journey.

You will begin this tour from Delhi, the capital of India. You will travel to Umaria from Delhi by an overnight train journey experience. Umaria is the second least populated district in Madhya Pradesh and the nearest train station to the Bandhavgarh National Park. Bandhavgarh was declared as a National Park in 1968, and is spread over 437 sq kms. It covers forest divisions of Umaria and Katni. It houses more than 37 species of animals and 250 species of birds. Experiencing wild life is one of the most breathtaking experiences in life.

 

Another overnight train journey from Umaria will take you to Agra. In Agra, the highpoint is the magnificent mausoleum of eternal love, the immortal Taj Mahal. A world heritage site and one of the wonders of the World. No words can describe this white marble edifice, built by Emperor Shah Jahan as a tomb in memory of his beloved wife, the Empress Mumtaz Mahal. Although your guide will explain the amazing historical stories behind this stupendous site, nothing can really prepare you for a visit to the Taj Mahal.

 

In Agra, you will also visit the Agra Fort, a 16th century monument situated near the gardens of Taj Mahal. It was in this fort that Emperor Shah Jahan spent his last few days.

  • Bandhavgarh National Park remains closed from 01 July till 15 Oct.
